Are you curious about MRI and want to contribute to OA research?
Many people suffer from osteoarthritis of the knee. Although osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, our knowledge about the course of the disease is limited. With the help of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), we may be able to follow the development of osteoarthritis and learn more about what exactly happens in an OA-affected joint. This study examines people with injured knees and follows them over time. In order to be able to compare MRI scans of injured knees with non-injured knees, we are currently looking for people with healthy knees who are willing to get an MRI scan.
We are looking for volunteers aged 18-75 with healthy knees, as well as those who have sustained a knee injury and/or suffer from mild knee symptoms such as pain or stiffness. Please note, if you have metal implants in your body, you should not take part in this research study.
The MRI exam takes place during working hours at the 7-Tesla MRI scanner located in the hospital in Lund, Sweden. The MRI visit takes about one and a half hours, of which one hour is spent lying in the scanner. As a participant in the study, you will be contacted after 2 years for a follow-up visit.
The study is a collaboration between the Clinical Epidemiology Unit (Orthopaedics) at Lund University and Imaging and Physiology at the Skåne University Hospital.
